hi, i have a friend who has a laptop screen led 15.6" suddenly appear a black scratch or spot but the shape are more likely scratch rather than a spot. It is looks as if it was tear from inside the layer and it gets longer little bit after few days later, also around 1 week later same thing happen at the bottom of the screen, previosly it was on the upper right side. Anybody or experts out there know about this issue ?
Sounds like the screen has been "bruised" and resulted in an internal leak. No cure apart from replacement and hardly likely to be accepted for warraty repair unless`there are a lot of other monitors from the same make & model complaining of similar problems.
So there is a such a problem, this internal leak thingy kind a rare i guess.Well that's to bad because the laptop was bought only 3 months ago and regarding the warranty claim i hope it's going to be ok. By the way thanks a lot guys for the feedback appreciated it.
Not so rare as you might think .. if the laptop gets dropped or takes a hit from someone or something, it is not only possible but also happens frequently. I have seen it in various forms from shadows to cracks. In fact even too much finger pressure can cause it if someone tries to point to something and the screen and makes contact.
What Make/Model of laptop? Post back and I will tell you your chances of getting an "In-Warranty" paid for by the laptop maker.
DF is right; drops of this kind are common with this type of damage. Also, I've seen it caused by Customers letting their kids or grandkids or pets use the laptop as a chew toy or for entertainment. If you don't believe that, go to any public place and look for parents who give their $600 Cell phones to their toddlers or infants to use a pacifier!! They then throw, drop, or chew on them for hours, and then wonder why they no longer work!!
Abuse the laptop, just like any other electronic device, and it will break. Simple as that. These types of failures RARELY occur spontaneously on their own.:nono:
The model of the laptop is Asus A550c and i am agreed with you guys on that matter, it had to be some kind of physical contact that happen onto the screen other wise it doesn't really make any sense how that problem occur in the first place. Maybe my friend daugther afraid to tell the truth or she just clueless.
A similar failure can occur if the laptop is left exposed in a hot car, but the damage usually is more widespread. It can be anything from black splotches randomly across the screen all the way up to most or all of it blacked out.
Living in the tropics, I see this problem about 3-4 times per month. The only 'cure' is screen replacement with a dose of customer education thrown in for good measure!
Where I see that is usually carelessness where someone leaves a mouse on the screen and then forgets and tries to close the top or even a pen left on the screen could easily do that.
@Rich: could be, but you gotta admit my "chew-toy" scenario was by far the most entertaining <Grin!>.
