Re: Laptop Cooler Advice
Laptops coolers are fine, some finer than others though. If your laptop has intakes on the bottom to suck in cool air, then you want a pad that raises those vents into the open air. The pads that lay flat often block vents in the same fashion as a level surface does. Not very efficient. I prefer the style that raises the rear of the laptop, and don't find that the fans in the pads make much of a difference, fans in cooling pads sound good in theory, but are just a bunch of noise without result to me.
The thing is, there is no cooling pad that is a solution to laptop heating problems. It can help to alleviate symptoms, but does not address the underlying issue. That's dust, dirt, and lint. Your vents are most likely blocked, impeding if not stopping airflow. Get a can of air and blow the vents out. Spray into the intake vent until no more dust comes out the exhaust vent. This isn't as good as taking the computer apart and cleaning it from the inside, but you may not want to approach that task. Should you decide to do so, make sure you get a service manual for your model, it gives step by step instructions on how to remove parts, and what order to do it in. Depending on what make of laptop you have, it can be real easy to get the manual, or pretty much impossible.
