Laptop Cooler Advice

My laptop overheats and turns off really easily so i need a laptop cooler.
It should be;

-around £27
-suitable to sit on the lap and on a desk
-my screen resolution is 1280 by 800 so i think its widescreen
-15.4 inches screen size

I have found a few sites so if someone would tell me which cooler from that site is good or a cooler from another site.

http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/-/702/909...=genre&cpage=1

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/produc...=57&subid=1406

http://www.laptopstuff.co.uk/c/Coolers.htm

http://www.cclonline.com/product-cat...ategory_id=824

If this is in the wrong section please tell me which section to put it in and i will move it.

Re: Laptop Cooler Advice

I just wanted to make a note about laptop cooling.
A cooler is probably a good idea but another good thing to make sure is that you don't have items on your desk blocking your fans output. This happens alot when people bring there laptops to bed and the blankets alot of time block there fan outputs which causes it to heat up quickly and shut down.
I'm not sure if your doing that, but it is an extra idea to think about.

Re: Laptop Cooler Advice

I have already taken that on board thank you. It still overheats on a flat desk. Also, i have even placed it on my bare knees leaving a space underneath making sure not to block anything and still it overheats. So i am definite that i need a cooler. Which would you choose for me? (i have already listed a few sites that you could pick one from)

Re: Laptop Cooler Advice

Laptops coolers are fine, some finer than others though. If your laptop has intakes on the bottom to suck in cool air, then you want a pad that raises those vents into the open air. The pads that lay flat often block vents in the same fashion as a level surface does. Not very efficient. I prefer the style that raises the rear of the laptop, and don't find that the fans in the pads make much of a difference, fans in cooling pads sound good in theory, but are just a bunch of noise without result to me.
The thing is, there is no cooling pad that is a solution to laptop heating problems. It can help to alleviate symptoms, but does not address the underlying issue. That's dust, dirt, and lint. Your vents are most likely blocked, impeding if not stopping airflow. Get a can of air and blow the vents out. Spray into the intake vent until no more dust comes out the exhaust vent. This isn't as good as taking the computer apart and cleaning it from the inside, but you may not want to approach that task. Should you decide to do so, make sure you get a service manual for your model, it gives step by step instructions on how to remove parts, and what order to do it in. Depending on what make of laptop you have, it can be real easy to get the manual, or pretty much impossible.
