help my toshiba laptop says no operating system
ok the other day i was decided to reboot my toshiba laptop with window xp by erasing the hard drive with the recovery disk and after i waited 8 hours for this to finish i went to turn my computer so it would make it like it was just bought out of a store and a black screen comes up and says that there is no operating system found and i tried redoing the recovery cause i thought that there might of been a glitch or something and still says it can someone help me fix my computer please

You said you erased the hard drive... which means you erased the operating system.
You will need to reinstall the operating system with a Windows XP CD.

OK, you Formatted (erased) the HDD with your restore disc. Now you have to use the Restore disc to reinstall Windows.

i tried and it didnt work and im tired of fooling with the disk so im going to go to walmart and just buy me a new xp upgrade cd or something but thanks for all ur help

the recovery disk would not erase the restore partition
d/load and run the h/drive makers diagnostic utility on the h/drive

That's what I was thinking, dai.
I don't think it was the recovery disc he was using. Must have been some sort of other disc.
