I have a Dell E6400 laptop that doesn't boot up

Yesterday was working fine, today black screen , led #9 light on solid.

Tried turning it off by hold power button but wouldn’t shut off.

Had to disconnect battery to shut it off. Without battery I kept power button pressed for 10 sec to do a reset.

Now when I plug it in the charging light is on and flashing, not other light are on.

When I press the power button nothing happens. No fan spinning.

Any ideas ?

Re: Dell E6400 boot problem

Remove the battery and attach the power adapter and try starting it up. If that works the battery needs to be replaced.

Already tried but no success. The battery is fully charged. Tried a different power adapter but still no lights, except for the battery charging light flashes for 1 second. Pressing power button nothing happens. Could try checking the cpu thermal grease but don't know if it would help. Could it be something wrong with connection to the power button or the motherboard ?
