HI,
HP does not list XP drivers for this model that will allow you to install XP

Please read the following warning!:

If you wish to install XP on this machine there is a couple of things you have to do first.

Make a backup of you Vista OS.
This will be needed so you can revert back to Vista if we have problems.

You will then need to backup any personal data you have.
XP will wipe out your drive so you will loose all data on this drive.

Then you will need to Slipstream the Sata Driver to a " new" XP CD.

You will need a working computer with a CD burner and internet access.

I use Nlite to slipstream the sata driver to a " new" XP CD.

Here is a good guide on how to Slipstream:
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windo...-installation/

Other items you will need:
A " new" blank CD
XP CD w/SP2 (DO NOT USE SP3)

Nlite

Sata Driver

SP2: If needed

Your Specs:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...roduct=3866427

Once the XP OS is installed you will need to install the additional Drivers in this order ( Reboot the computer after each driver is installed)

Chipset

Graphics(Video)

LAN Driver

I am not sure which wireless card you have?

Broadcom WLan

or

Intel WLan

This should allow you on the intenet.
Do a Microsoft Update, but use the " Custom" option.
This will allow you to install all the other updates without selecting SP3 (DO NOT INSTALL)

You will also need these if MS Updates did not install them;

NET Framework 2.0

Windows Installer 3.1

Then proceed with the following drivers:

MS UAA Driver
MUST BE INSTALLED BEFOR THE AUDIO DRIVER

Audio
This must be manually installed.
Follow these directions:
Unzip to a folder.
Run installer.
If it errors use Device Manager.
From Device Manager:
Right click "Audio Device on HD"
Choose Update driver
Select: No to connect
Select: Install from a list or specific location
Select: Don't search I will choose the driver to install
In the list of common hardware types:
Scroll down and select Sound, Video, and Game controllers.
Remove the check from "Show Compatible Hardware" and click on "Have Disk".
Next...browse to the unzipped folder and choose the "WiSVHe5.inf".
Ignore XP when it complains.
Reboot.

Modem

Quick Launch Buttons

Synaptics Touch Pad

Cyberlink YouCam Software

If you have Bluetooth the HP Integrated Module is your Bluetooth Wireless:
Bluetooth

If you have 7 Unknown Devices:
Buttons Drivers

Go back to the Device Manager and check for errors (yellow!? or Red x)
Post any remainning errors.

Hope this helps.
Bill

The links from the Intel site are gone - for the SATA driver and the chipset. Is there another way to find these, on the Intel site or elsewhere? (What were the filenames?)
