Compaq Presario F761US will not boot

The laptop will light up as if it is going to boot when I press the power button, but it just immediately shuts down. I've tried putting in another battery, that is fully charged, from another F761US to see if it had to do with its battery but I have the same results. Then I tried simply plugging it into the wall without a battery at all, nothing. I have also replaced the hard drive and nothing has changed. I would like to know if this is a common problem with this series of Compaq's and some support on what to do from here on out. Thank you.
