Hello, would appreciate any help I can get!
When I turn my laptop on, it initially shows the ‘starting windows’ screen, in full colour. Then it just goes black, with a white cursor, which I can move around. If left for long enough it will show a screensaver of different pictures of Acer laptops, which disappears back to black screen when I move the cursor.
Control Alt Del brings up the usual interface and allows me to shut down.
How can I fix this?
Thanks!

Boot up in safe mode, use system restore.

You only have 2 more options, and both require installation disc.
1 - Run recovery mode
2 - Format and fresh install.

You can use something like Hirens or linux to backup data before.

Wondering if maxing out my ram will make much more of difference on new laptop?
I just got an HP Probook 4420s. It is a pretty fast laptop already and came with 2gb of ram. It can be maxed out with 2 4GB sticks = 8GB of ram total. I am just wondering if buying the dual set instead of just the one 4GB ram upgrade will really make much of a difference in speed/quality. Thanks...
