Hello

My computer has been running very slow lately and lagging when i I am watching videos on youtube. I looked at the programs I'm running in task manager and saw that something called svchost.exe has been taking up the most memory (40000 or so) when everyhting else is around 20000. Anyways, I ran a DDS scan and a GMER scan. But while running the GMER scan, I got a BSOD saying that a file "pxpdakod.sys" was the problem. Here is my DDS scan:

Hello legolas192,

You've had this same problem in the past http://www.techsupportforum.com/f10/...nt-417487.html. Was it resolved at some point and now it's happening again?

Try to run gmer again, but use the following configuration:

Double click GMER.exe and it will begin an initial scan.
  • If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan...click on NO.

In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Uncheck the following ...
  • Devices
  • IAT/EAT
  • Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
  • Show All (don't miss this one)
  • Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish.
  • Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "ark.txt" or it will save as a .log file which cannot be uploaded to your post.
  • Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop

**Caution**
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<--- ROOKIT" entries

Please attach the ark.txt in your next reply

=========================

If you cannot complete a full scan with the new version of gmer using the indicated settings, try this next.
  • Before scanning, make sure all other running programs are closed and no other actions like a scheduled antivirus scan will occur while the scan is being performed. Do not use your computer for anything else during the scan.
  • Double click the exe file.
  • The program will begin to run, and perform an initial scan. If possible rootkit activity is found, you will be asked if you would like to perform a full scan. Click No.
  • In any case, after the initial scan is complete, click on the Save button, and save the log file somewhere you can easily find it, such as your desktop, and attach it in reply

I tried to do a GMER scan w/o the devices also and I still got a BSOD. It worked without devices last time but I do not know why it isnt working now. I therefore just saved the initial scan and attached it in the reply.

No it was not resolved. The problem just got worse which is why I tried doing this again to see if there were any other alternatives.

I'm not seeing any malware here. How much RAM (memory) do you have installed? As this only occurs when watching youtube videos or listening to online radio, it does seem an issue with the OS/hardware.

I would suggest returning to your initial topic and let the folks there help you troubleshoot this issue.

My RAM is 512 MB. I have about 51 MB left. Could that be the problem?

I would bet my desktop on it.

Talk it over with the hardware folks, I'm sure upgrading to 1 gig would be a tremendous help.
