Repairing a client's Desktop
Model: Dell Dimension 2400
OS: XP Home
Error: BSOD; Process1_Initialization_Failed ***Stop: 0x0000006b. (0xC000009c, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
Running memtest86+ revealed a bad memory module. Replaced and re-ran test passing 15 tests.
Upon reboot, same BSOD.
Understand this can be a Norton/Roxio - Ghost/Go Back issue.
BSOD on regular bootup, last know..., Safe Mode and all others.
Client has not located Dell Supplied Disk, XP Home Authentication sticker w/key code is on machine.
Problem: When trying to perform a repair (After hitting F8 and Selecting Setup Windows now) I am highlighting the C Drive where the OS is installed.
Pressing 'R' does not perform repair.
Is this because:
I am not attempting repair using the supplied Dell OS disk?
or
I am using an original xp Home disk (no service packs)?
Trying to avoid placing the HDD in another machine to backup the data/reinstall OS and I've never performed a repair on a Dell brand machine.
Thanks in advance.
