Windows XP Pro not loading up

After installing Norton 360 v2 (and yes, I know, many people don't like the SW), my desktop PC (Win XP Pro SP2) did an automatic restart, which I thought a bit odd, then got hung when the XP startup screen and progress indicator displayed. After various restarts and selecting Restart Windows normally (which didn't work) in the first instance, I tried starting in Safe mode but that didn't work either.

Inserting the Reinstall Windows XP CD, the PC did not boot from the CD so I was unable to try the Recovery Console.

Any suggestions?

Like Madcatz said, try to enter your bios by pressing a key on your keyboard (the key depends on witch bios version you have.

When you are in the cd, try running Windows recovery mode and see what happens.
