Hi

Yesterday, My daughters laptop came up with the above error message.

I have tried to start windows normally, last known good configuration and in safe mode but not been able to get in.

I have tried to get it to boot from the CD but that doesn't seem to work either.

The laptop is a HP Pavilion dv6000 with windows XP media center Edition 2005.:sigh:

When you said 'boot from CD to' did you mean to start the system or to get into Recovery Console?
Try to get to the Recovery Console and do chkdsk /r...
That means that you need to boot from CD into Setup, then to go into Recovery Console by pressing R, and run the chkdsk /r...
Sorry if I misunderstood you if you already done this by saying 'boot from CD'...
