Windows Media Connect

I'm running a Dell Dimension 3000 with 3ghz cpu 256mb ram and 80gb disk
with xp home.

The system has always been a bit sluggish because it is short on memory.
Recently it has gotten very slow, especially when loading. When I look there is a new icon in my system tray. When I hover over it it says "Windows Media Connect"

Recently we added another computer in the other room running XP home, and I have added several system shares. It seems that this Windows Media Connect has shown up since I did that. Is it the $MS stuff related to them or is it related to some other $MS updates I don't want and can maybe get rid of?

Thanks for any help you can give
Dwight

It probably relates to a Windows Update...you can uninstall Media Connect in Add/Remove programs if you do not want it...though you may have to tick the box to show updates at the top of the Add/Remove applet :-)

Windows Media Connect

& Windows Media 8 were eating my machine alive.

They are now gone and it works great again for a small machine

Thank you very much

Dwight

256 of memory is also barely enough to run XP by itself, let alone running programs.
I would suggest getting at least 512
