secondly why are you not running service pack 3?

 

the blue screen of death says the usual, "this screen has appeared to prevent further damage to your computer..." If you want to know the full message look blue screen of death on google.

Can you just tell me what's up, if you have no idea what I'm talking about then forget it.

 

As Joeten said there will be a code in the blue screen message it will help us identify what is wrong. There can be many reasons for a blue screen and they always have a code which tells people what is going wrong.

firstly you should update to service pack 3 next make sure everything else is up to date like graphics card drivers etc etc.

Actually I do have service pack 3, and the graphics and everything are okay. How can I get my computer to work again?:4-dontkno

In the matter of fact, this error could come from a bunch of problems, bad HDD, corrupted registry, corrupted updates etc...
But first of all - did you recently install some of this soft :

Norton or AVG.
ZoneAlarm Firewall.
Early Photoshop Suites (1-3).
Audio\Video drivers.

If you do, the most reasonable answer is in one of this apps\drivers... I'm sure there is planty of ways to roll it back, first of all we need to know, where mostly the problem is coming from...
If you did not - start checking your hardware one by one.

 

I didn't install any new hardware or software on the computer. However there was a malware (Windows xp security virus), that was causing some problems. Maybe that's the cause?

 

Yours sounds very similar to one I fixed a couple days ago that was malware related. Let me see if I can get you some instructions on what to do next.

Given 0xc2 + SYSTEM registry hive corruption, I would look at HDD.
