I've a Sandisk Cruzer Blade 8GB, now when I say the files are missing, I don't say they're deleted. I'm saying they disappear! They disappear until I unplug and replug the USB. When I try to copy anything in/out of the USB, the problem occurs. Also happens when I try to burn a file off of the USB. It's a peculiar problem that I've not been able to fix. I've tried formatting the USB with the HP utility and the Windows Built-In utility. But to no avail. I've attached a Screenshot of how the window looks after the files disappear. Here are the specs:
Processor: Intel Pentium P4 1.70GHz
OS: Windows XP SP3
USB: Sandisk Cruzer Blade
Capacity: 8GB
Same happened to me with a 4GB flash drive that was only 2 days old. Could not trust it so I took it back it for a refund. The low capacity 1GB ones I've had for over a year work perfect. I don't use any over 1GB now, you just can't trust them.
I already have, but they don't work Sundays. So I'll wait until tomorrow. Anyway, coming back to pip's point. Yeah, I've tried 2GB USBs tops, but 4GB and 8GB both give me this problem I guess. The 4GB only once whereas the 8GB repeatedly... Only Transcend 4GB and 8GB have been of some use. the Kingston and Sandisk ones are horrible.
