Your Default Gateway, your router, is not showing an IP address.
Power Cycle (unplug the power, wait 15 seconds and plug it back in) your Modem/Router, restart your computer and post your IPconfig log again. When every thing comes back online.

Still no Default Gateway. Do you have a modem/router combo, or are they 2 separate devices? If they are the later, then disconnect the router and plug directly into the modem.
If you have a combo router/modem, Which Make and model is it? Go over the laptop and do an ipconfig /all. write down the Default Gateway IP address. Type that into the troubled computers browser Address bar to Boot into the router Setup. Make sure DHCP is enabled.

Hey Spunk The 169.254.149.155 IPaddress is an auto assigned one your PC gives itself because it can't find a DHCP server, that is why there is no gateway.

do you have activity lights on your laptop where the cable is plugged in? If so it may be your only being granted one address from your "Modem" (what model)

if there are no lights, they you don't have a connection which would explain a lot.

Ok well it says router so I'm assuming it knows what it is. At any rate it sounds like it isn't giving your PC an address. Have you looked at the DHCP configuration page?

#10 ·
Jim ,

is dhcp configuration page is that page when i give default gateway no in address bar right ?
i gave the number it it is not connecting ..

Jim can i copy all ip address , dns, etc from working computer to troubled computer and check if this works ?

#12 ·
Hi, you wont be able to connect to your router with that address. first we need to get a valid address. Turn off or disconnect both PC's. Reboot your router (modem) Then wait for a few minutes and reconnect one of the PC's. Can you now surf the net, or is it still giving you an error. run the Ipconfig command again and post the results.

As I said in post #4 you have to go into the Router/Modem's setup to ensure that DHCP is enabled. If you have a laptop that is also connecting Wirelessly, then your Modem is a Wireless Router/Modem combo.
Follow the instructions in the Link that Joe provided to access the router, then make sure DHCP is enabled. My suggestion of looking at the IPconfig log of the laptop might help as well.
