Something went wrong during the installation. I would ignore it, but a reinstall should fix it.

Fdisk the drive. It sounds like it keeps installing on 1 partition but the hard drive acts like it has 2 partitions. fdisk will blow out the patitions on the drive. If it doesn't install properly after that, I will need some serious medication!

 

edit out the one you do not need from the boot ini
make sure you choose the right one
control panel/sysytem/advanced/startup and recovery setting
you will see the listing at the top

 

What dai said should work.

If you're unsure about which one to keep, another way of doing that is to enter msconfig (start => run => type "msconfig"), go to the boot.ini tab and click the "check boot paths" button.

You can use FDisk to verify that in fact there is only one partition, but dai's suggestion should work. FDisk is very power and can render the entire HD useless, and I would not use it unless you are absolutely certain of what you are doing.
