Dear All

I have a Dell Inspiron 500M, I recnetly reinstalled windows XP Home Edition for the first time. Ever since I have on bootup it says which OS would you like to choose from? Under the question their are two 'Windows XP Home Edition's' to choose from. Both boot the same thing and what is weird is I have no other hd or external hd. Also their are no other partions of XP on the hd.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards

Fdisk the drive. It sounds like it keeps installing on 1 partition but the hard drive acts like it has 2 partitions. fdisk will blow out the patitions on the drive. If it doesn't install properly after that, I will need some serious medication!

You can use FDisk to verify that in fact there is only one partition, but dai's suggestion should work. FDisk is very power and can render the entire HD useless, and I would not use it unless you are absolutely certain of what you are doing.
