my old pc which is full of my kids games, msn/email accounts and the families main internet access has an almost totally full hard drive and isn't running very well.
I have a new (to me) pc with a much larger hard drive and would like to transfer everything over to the new one. Is this possible? keeping the antivirus and everything if possible

Many thanks

You can transfer over documents and such simply by connecting to the same network and sharing the folders/documents. The only way you would be able to transfer over programs is you would have to re-install them on the new PC.

Hope this helps,

You MAY have to reinstall all the games on the new computer, and manualy set up the email accounts, unless you are speaking of webmail which can be accessed anywhere through a web browser (Internet Explorer/Firefox/etc)

You could image the old drive onto the new drive, but you would have to install drivers for the new computer's hardware which can be difficult for some inexperienced users.

Which way did you want to do this? It is safer to just manualy configure the new computer.

*Some games have copy protection and require a formal install rather than just copying the data from one drive to another.

If they both have ethernet cards, you can use a crossover cable to connect both PCs, or two ethernet cables and a router to connect both PCs.

There are also USB file transfer cables in stores. If your old PC does not have USB or ethernet, there are serial port transfer cables but they are slow.

If the old computer has a USB port, the easiest thing to do is to transfer files using a USB drive like this:
