in trying to determine why my daughter's computer is running so slow, i went to the task manager..."system idle process" in processes is using from 64% to 89% of the cpu resource. what i'm wondering is if there is a work-around for this. any and all help gratefully appreciated.
thank you! i was thinking the opposite...i'll try a defrag and see what happens...i'm also running into a situation where with google chrome every tab you open opens a new instance of google chrome...but that's a subject for a different forum

If you mean each tab in Chrome starts a new chrome.exe process, that's expected behavior. Internet Explorer does much the same thing, and it's for tab isolation and crash resiliency.
click on the PC Running Slow? link in my signature and try those things.
