i just reinstalled windows using a restore dvd to make my computer run like new again nice and fresh but imediatly after i boot up i notice its very sluggish and laggy. it cant be spyware/virus or anything like that because its fresh the only thing i notice under task manager is that SYstem Idle Process is using 99% of cpu. the computer will freeze up for 10 seconds somtimes then it catches up to itself like when i type somtimes no letters will show up then all of a sudden everything catches up its very frustrating. let me know if i should post any more information up thanks

Hi 113H.

It could be that your computer is running updates for windows to bring it up to date after reinstall. This causes my computer to freeze and respond slowly.

I think high CPU usage on system idle is normal. System idle % is just whats not being used.

Correct - if System Idle is high then your CPU is just doing little, except waiting for instructions.

Scan anyway - today's malware can hide anywhere and may not appear in your Task Manager or anyway obvious.
