Question

When Windows starts up I see the startbutton/task bar. When it finishes starting up it disappears and I can not figure out how to get it back. I can press cntrl+esc to get the quicklaunch area just as if I had clicked on the start button.

Any thoughts or instructions on how to get the taskbar back?

Thanks for any help.

Thanks, that tool lets me show the task bar. But it still is missing in action quite a bit. Is there a "permanent" way to get the task bar back?

Thanks,

OS: Windows XP Home & Pro. Sp3 / both compleatly updated

My System

Send a message via MSN to mike2020learnin

hello

have you tried to run the sfc

it rpair the core windows files on your system

you will need the Windows XP software instalation disk/cd , you need to make sure it is the same version that you have on your system as in XP Home / Xp Home sp2 / ect...

if you do not have a disk/cd you can barrow one from a friend /family member/ co worker , and once again it needs to be the the same version

then when done defrag

reboot

Mike

To do that go Ctrl+Esc -> Run (or Windows key + R) -> type "sfc /scannow" without the quotes and hit OK.

i have the same problem. i've almost just given up but what i did was use system restore. i did it this way. cltrl alt delete to display the windows task manager. click on new task, click on the browse button, navigate to c:local disk, then to windows, then system 32, choose the restore folder and click on "rstrui". this will start the system restore procedure. restored the computer to a later date..... well, it worked.
