Speed test accuracy

This is a discussion on Speed test accuracy within the Windows XP Support forums, part of the Tech Support Forum category. Who is the most reliable download speed test service? I go to Speedtest.net and I get 10 Mbps. Speakeasy says

Who is the most reliable download speed test service? I go to Speedtest.net and I get 10 Mbps. Speakeasy says 20. Who do I believe?

are you testing both to and from the same city? what speed are you supposed to have? did you test more than once?

I'm signed on for 16 meg. I just tried a second run and the results make more sense. Speakeasy gives me 17 meg and speedtest.net 12 Mbps.
