[SOLVED] Wireless network adapter
I just put a linksys wrt54g v1.1 wireless network card in my computer and i keep getting:
"Limited or no connectivity"
When i try to "repair" the connection it says renewing your ip address cannot be completed.
I have tried the "repair" feature, updating drivers and nothing. I can connect to the net threw the on board Ethernet card if that means anything. any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

Re: Wireless network adapter
do you have wep encryption setup and if so,,did you enter the correct wep key? was this card a PCI type card and was it brand new? was there a linksys wireless utility that loaded with the drivers ? do you have a firewall program like zonealarm running if so...disable it or go into zonealarm and allow internet access to IE

Re: Wireless network adapter
Try power cycling your Modem and Wireless Router.
Unplug both the Modem and Wireless Router from the power source
Plug in the Modem first and wait 2-3 minutes
Plug in the Wireless Router and wait 2-3 minutes
See if you have a connection

Re: Wireless network adapter
I tried the power cycling and nothing.
It is WEP encrypted and i have entered the key several times and tried turning it off and nothing.
It is a PCI card and it was bough a few months ago and was working in a differnt computer but not in this one.
I only have the windows xp firewall but that is turned off for now.
The cd it came with installed Linksys wireless network monitor program.
trying to connect threw the wireless network monitor it hangs at "cannot associate with the access point".
edit: after it sat for 10 or so min. it connected but now says "you are connected to the access point, but the internet cannot be found"

Re: Wireless network adapter
try removing this wireless network adapter in Device Manager and reboot the pc Let XP find new hardware again and let it install the Linksys wireless adapter Drivers again..... Did you say you did turn off the WEP on your router ??? are there other desktop or laptops working fine with your wireless router it could well be a router problem.

Re: Wireless network adapter
Yes, the WEP is turned off for now. This wireless card was working fine in another computer this morning, but i dont have any other wireless computers to test it now.
I uninstalled the wireless network adapter and restarted computer. XP found the card and installed the drivers.
When i try to connect threw XP, i hit connect and it starts to connect and hangs on "waiting for the network".. not sure what else to try or any info to give
edit: i tried to "repair" and it says "Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed. Connecting to the wireless network"

Re: Wireless network adapter
Reset the router to default settings.
See if the wireless adapter will connect.
If it does, go back into the router and setup your wep encryption.

Re: Wireless network adapter
