I recently reinstalled Windows XP becauses of some missing files. I had two working hard drives installed before the reinstallation. But now, only the primary drive shows. My problem is that the drive appears in the BIOS, but does not appear in disk management or explorer. I rechecked the BIOS 4 times and everything is the same as it was before, and I didn't touch the inside of the computer. I just can't get it to show up in disk managment. Please Help!
Have you installed any of the windows updates since reinstalling?
What is the size of the drive that is not showing up?
Windows XP support for 48 bit LBA (needed for drives larger than 137GB) support is as easy as installing Service Pack 1 or 2. This enables support for drives larger than 137 Gigabyte.
I have service pack 2 and dowloaded all the updates. The HD is a WD 150 GB 7200 rpm. But I figured out the problem already. I forgot to install the chipset drivers that came with my motherboard when I reinstalled Windows. (Duh!)
Thanks for your help
