[SOLVED] WIN XP "WINDOWS - DELAYED WRITE FAILED"

While working suddenly a pop up windows appeared "windows - delayed write failed. Windows was unable to save all the data of the file F:\----. the data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere."

File name and drive contentiously changing. Some times d:\---, sometimes E:\--- etc.

The system slowed down. In the windows task manager, performance window. the CPU usage went up very high, from 70 to 100%.

I was not trying to save any file. Nor the drives on my computer are shared.

Restarted the computer but the problem is still there. Tried chkdsk but didn't find any problem.

Can some one please explain the problem and solution for this error.

Re: WIN XP "WINDOWS - DELAYED WRITE FAILED"

What is drive F: ? if you have an external USB HDD or Flash Drive attached to your computer, it has become unplugged or has lost power. the drive might have failed.
go to My Computer, be sure the F: drive is still available. If not, unplug the USB cable from the computer end. Restart the computer and plug the USB cable into the Back USB port of the compute r when it comes back up. Then you can run a check disk on that drive.

Re: WIN XP "WINDOWS - DELAYED WRITE FAILED"

Drive c:, d:, e: & f: are partitions of hard drive. The error window is showing the message with almost all drives (d:, e:, f:). All drive partitions are working, but the computer slows down. Popup windows comes in between showing the error.

Re: WIN XP "WINDOWS - DELAYED WRITE FAILED"

Check the connection to the Hard Drive. Make sure it is in tight. Also, try a different Data cable, and a different power plug. If everything checks out the drive may be failing. Download the ISO image for Seatools or Drive Fitness in my signature and burn the image to CD with IMGBurn also in my signature. Boot off of the newly created CD and run the Quick and the Advanced tests on the drive.

Re: WIN XP "WINDOWS - DELAYED WRITE FAILED"

Thanks for your support.
Problem solved. It was due to malfunctioning of "no write access to external drives" set in antivirus. Suddenly one more problem started, I was not able to save any of my data to any of the drives. Then I tried to disable the above feature in antivirus and afetr that all the problems were gone.
