Re: sound lost after virus removal

What is your make and model # of your computer? Your profile says XP Home but it does not list any Service Packs? You should have Service Pack 3.
Go to Start/Run and type devmgmt.msc and press enter. In the Device Manager is there a yellow mark under Sound and Audio Devices? If you have a name brand PC (HP, Dell etc) you can go to the manufacturers Support/Download Drivers site and type in your Service tag# or your Make, Model# and download the audio driver for your particular computer.

under system info; my pc is running windows xp home edition
