[SOLVED] How to get MDM.exe to stop running at startup?

Ok, I'm running XP sp2 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254: Service Pack 2) with IE7 installed, and I can't seem to get MDM.exe to stop loading itself at startup. It's not in any of the various startup locations, and checking off "Disable Script Debuging" in IE doesn't do it. Anyone know how to keep this thing from coming back?

Have you tried unchecking it via msconfig? Start>Run type "msconfig" (without the quotes) and OK. In the window that appears select the Start Up tab and uncheck MDM.exe, then Apply>OK

MDM.exe is the Machine Debug Manager, although it does not seem to appear in my start up list.

It's not in there. When I said "It's not in any of the various startup locations" I meant that location too.

G'Day Sarge,

Please try this workaround from Microsoft®.

Post back with the results.

Kind Regards,

I already tried that. Doesn't work.

Re: How to get MDM.exe to stop running at startup?

Found it! It was at HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services.

Found & Disabled it with a tool from the Sysinternals site called Autoruns.

Thanks guys.
