When my computer is starting I get a dialogue box saying "Error loading C:\Windows\System32\gzmrotate.dll
The specified module could not be found"

Hello CBSpike85, welcome again to our forums

This is a BHO that probably has been deleted by anti-spyware. I'd like you to go to majorgeeks.com (exact link in a moment), download BHO-demon 2.x from there, install and run it; and disable the BHO from there.

The link I promised: BHODemon 2.0.0.23

Then reboot!

Let me know what the result was, please.

Re: gzmrotate.dll???

As I said, I don't have much knowledge when it comes to software......so out of curiousity, what is a BHO? Thanks for your help. I will let you know how it turns out.

BHO stands for Browser Helper Object.

BHO's are there in "good" varieties (for instance Spybot's download protection) and in bad varieties (for instance a BHO that tracks your surfing)

i know this is an old forum but for those of you who get this probem, when it says "error loading" it may be that you have already deleted this DLL file and it can't load anymore so it will come up with this messege, if BHOdemon does not work then i recommend you download some sort of Windows startup task manager and delete the program trying to load this DLL file on Windows startup.

http://pcwin.com/Audio/Scotts_Window...r/download.htm

There's one for you guys, if this don't work feel free to email me.

OK, we will have to go in the registry then. Please download the program called "Regseeker" through THIS link; unzip the program, and run it. enter "gzmrotate.dll" (without the quotes) and let the program search for it.

Since whatever it finds may be deleted, you can select all (Xtrl+A) and press the [Del]-key. Close the program, and reboot. Problem should be fixed now.

Re: gzmrotate.dll???

Thank you. It's fixed now. One more question....in my registry, why is it that I have a file name "SAM" under HKEY Local Machine? I don't remember ever seeing that before when messing around with my registry. I think it's an empty folder. The only thing in there has the name "(Default)", it's type is "REG_SZ", and it's Data says "(value not set)". That means it's empty right?

OK, one thing accomplished, one to go

What is the exact key? You may replace your user name by putting %username% in its place

Re: [SOLVED] gzmrotate.dll???

Hi guys.

I was researching gzmrotate as I am experiencing the same message each time I log on to my pc. BHO demon found the .dll and I removed it but this did not fix the problem so I ran Scott's Windows Startup Program Manager as plasmascan recommended. This found the .dll but it was coupled by another. It appeared like this in the Startup Manager

C:\WINDOWS\System32\Rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\gzmrotate.dll" DllVerify

under the name "hid_start"

Seeing as gzmrotate is tied in with Rundll32.exe is it safe to remove or not?

I know this thread has been marked "solved" but I thought I may as well reply here as it is directly related to my problem.

Thanks in advance.

Nick.
