I downloaded Respondus from a link, it would not install and now my computer is extremely slow and locks up. It takes 3 to 8 minute to preform any comand. I tried to uninstall the download but nothing shows up. I tried to go to last config and to a restore point but it will not restore because it says nothing has changed. I also ran antivirus and adware scans. Nothing works. Please help.

Hi im4earnhardt, and welcome to TSF.

The program itself seems harmless enough but it depends where you got the link from. Its possible you are infected and may not show up in your scans. I will get some advice about this and let you know how to proceed.

Did you check task manager to see if there is a process that is using system resources? What does cpu usage read?

Important: I am not qualified to give advice about malware removal. This log is simply to ascertain whether your problem requires that you be referred to the Hijack This Log section. Please do not use any of the tools included with this program without supervision from a trained analyst.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Download HJTInstall.exe to your Desktop.
  • Doubleclick HJTInstall.exe to install it.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
  • Click on Install.
  • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
  • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Copy/Paste the log to your next reply please.
Don't use the Analyse This button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
Don't have Hijackthis fix anything. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

No obvious signs of infection but thats not conclusive.

Try this, Start > search > all files and folders > more advanced options > check the box "Search hidden files and folders" > type respondus in the search box.

Let me know if it finds anything.

Also,

Use Belarc Advisor it builds a detailed profile of your installed software and hardware, including Microsoft Hotfixes, and displays the results in your Web browser. All of your PC profile information is kept private on your PC and is not sent to any web server.
