I have several older Vaio laptops that came partititoned with a c and d drive. The cdrive is where the operating systemn and all programs are. Unfortunately, they made the d drive is larger than the c and I am running out of c drive space.

Can anyone tell me how to repartition without losing data so I can increase the c drive size and decrease the d drive size.

I am running xp home sp2 on one and xp pro sp2 on the other machine.

Thanks for any advice!!

Hi brucebinder, welcome to TSF...

have you thought about using the D drive purely for all your personal data (music, videos, documents, downloads etc) and keep C strictly for your Operating System? It has some security benefits as well as being convenient too.

However, if you want to resize the C partition, you would probably have to use a third party program such as Acronis Disk Director or Partition Manager, both of which are shareware but i'm not aware of any freeware alternatives available though someone else here may know of such programs.
