Check the performance tab, monitor it for a while

Take note of the average CPU% and Page file %

Post them up.

 

CPU starts at 33 and goes up tp 52 pagefile is 569mb and goes to 586mb

 

If thats when you have next to nothing open then I think you have some uneeded startup programs running.

Go to processes on task manager and click the CPU column name to sort it by CPU, sort it descending so the highest numbers appear at the top print screen that and post it for us.

To Print screen, you will find a button on your keyboard usually just up from your arrow keys Print Screen/prt scr

Push it once and open a image editor paint if you dont have any and go to edit > paste.

Save it as an image and upload it in a reply as an attachment.

I notice you have about 4 different chrome.exes running

Can you sort that same screen by memusage high to low and repost another shot.

 

Also download and install CCleaner - Standard

Install it, during the install it may ask you if you want google chrome as you already have it uncheck it. It sometimes asks, not always.

Once its installed it should autorun.

Go to the tools tab on the left and go to startup. Full screen the program and again print screen this and post it please.

From your second screenshot you dont have any silly startup programs, it seems the multiple chrome.exes are your problem you can ignore the ccleaner install.

Read up on a fix of sorts

Close google chrome and right click your chrome shorcut and go to properties
Look at the Target field and at the very end of the target add this line " --single-process"

Make sure you have a space between the end of the target path and the --single-process

What are the specs of your machine? If your specs are quite poor do the following

Show me the tools > startup screenshot from ccleaner, full screen so I can see all the options on the one screen.
Then go to the cleaner tab of cleaner and run analyse once its analysed run cleaner.

Open defraggler and analyse if the fragmentation percentage is above 6% then I would suggest running defrag.

Is avira a recent install or have you had it for the more than 2 months period??

I do not know how easy it is to disable Avira, but try disabling it/exiting it and test out the speed of your pc with it turned off, your machine is perfectly safe doing this.

Just dont go to any shoddy sites when you have it turned off.

If you think its causing the issues then look for an alternative antivirus, try posting in the General Computer Security section of the forum for suggestions on a low cpu hogging antivirus.

What Fragmentation rate does smart defrag give you.

And if you disabled the startups I suggested and your fragmentation percentage is low and you are still running slow then I would advise you to post in the virus/malware section.

How much free space do you have on your C: drive

 

60 gigs of 72

 

Post in the virus section ask them to provide you with steps to check for malware.
