Afaik DX10 does NOT work with XP.

DirectX 10 is NOT compatible with XP. The latest compatible version is 9.0c. DirectX 10 is for Vista only. There are a number of unofficial updates that claim to make this work but they never came from Microsoft. Their reliability is highly questionable. I would not be surprised if this was the ultimate cause of your problem.

If you really want to use DirectX 10 with XP I suggest you contact the supplier of the software you used.
