On the computers I am stuck using are set up to delete user files after the PC is idle for 30 minutes. This means any big downloads I want to do won't have a chance to finish.

I tried opening notepad and leaving a key pressed so it just keeps typing. It worked one time but the past two have worked. When I came back the keyboard wouldn't work until I restarted.

So, does anyone know of a better way to keep the computer from going idle?

Any help is appreciated

Who maintains these systems? You're probably going to have to deal with them.

The computers are at the university library. I will take the 5th on this but I can't really go ask the computer lab people the certainly frown upon what it is I am trying to download if you get my drift.

I am not sure of the specifics on what is considered idle by the setup. I do know that it seems to be something more than just a program running.

I will give the repeat CD idea a try.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Well, seeing as you know they'll frown on you actions, we really can't help you bypass their policies.
