hey, so i was online and everything was working fine. i always turn my comp off at night and then start it back up the next day. when i started it back up, all my internet settings were different. the toolbar at the top is no longer there. there are no options like file, edit, tools, address bar, etc. i have been trying to search my comp settings to figure it out, but i can't. can you help?

slight problem there

like file, edit, tools, address bar, etc is missing

try this

Right-click ANY toolbar and hit the Customize option way at the bottom. Make sure you're on the Toolbars tab of that dialog box. Select (but do NOT uncheck) the Standard toolbar and hit Reset. Confirm that you want to reset it. You should have your File menu back

so i tried what linesman said about right clicking any toolbar..the only thing i can right click on is the very top of the internet page and the only options are restore, close, minimize, etc...some friends of mine told me i should download mozilla firefox and use that instead of using internet explorer. do you think that's a good idea?

I think he means any toolbar like in My documents for example.

so you have no toolbars at all showing at the top of the screen?

not even an address bar or home, favoritesa icons?

if you have them right click alongside them and try

also try holding the alt key down and press v

does a drop down list appear ?

try showing standard toolbar there

thats right, i have no toolbars at all. the only things at the top of my page is a "mywebsearch" with a text box and another type of search thing. so what i have been doing in order to navigate online is type the address i want in the text box and then a bunch of links come up in a search and i choose the one i want. also, the alt key + v isnt doing anything.

if f11 doesn't work

you may have mywebsearch hiding the standard one

move the mouse slowly to the bottom edge of it

does it turn into a double arrow?

if it does ,click and drag it down

the f11 did something...but i now only have the file option along with the previously mentioned search options. i tried right clicking in the tool bar and it will let me go to customize but i dont know what to do from there.

try thedouble arrow bit

if the toolbar appears as normal, right click and lock it

did you intentionally put the mywebsearch toolbar on ?

if you only have the word file ,alongside should be two arrows like these >>

then alongside that a dotted line

move the mouse to the dotted line ,turns into a <->

click that and while holding the mouse down ,drag it to the left

the double arrow isnt showing up...i have a few more options on the toolbar but it still isnt normal. it seems like everything needs to move over to the left. the mywebsearch was not intentional. when i right click in the toolbar, i no longer have the customize option. the toolbar is checked on standard buttons, lock toolbar, vs toolbar, etc.
