My WiFi card was turned off by software to save on battery power. It should have been turned back on then the laptop was reconnect to AC power. But was not restored. I can find no way to the the unit on because everything I find says that it need to be done vias MS software.
Go to Start/Run and type devmgmt.msc and press enter. In the Device Manager do you see any yellow marks next to any devices? If so, this device needs to have a driver installed. If not, under Network Adapters is your wireless card have a red X (disabled) then right click it and Enable it. After that right click the adapter/Properties and see if there is a Power Management tab. If so, Uncheck Allow computer to turn off device to save power
Are you sure you don't have a button or switch somewhere on the laptop to turn the wireless adapter on or off? Do you have an indicator light somewhere on the computer that lights up when your wireless is on?
Thank you, it is offen the simple answer that you don't check first because it was powered off by software and had all ways restored itself in the past -- I assume a software problem. Wrong, check the hardware switch stupid.
