I had a problem about a month ago where I erased my Disk Drive and also my Windows XP home..My friend gave me a XP PRO version instead. IS THIS OK? Looks like he downloaded all the drivers too and gave me 2 disk [XP PRO & Drivers]

However, we at TSP do not support or recommend using pirated software.

It's nice your friend had an XP he wasn't using that he could let you have.

I bought a laptop with XP home and the first thing I did with it was put XP Pro on it. I did this under the section that allows me to install the XP Pro on one desktop and one laptop that both belong to me.

I never had any problems with it, including installing the recent update that checks to see if I have a valid copy of XP.

Hello wii_zil and Welcome to TSF

As the other members have already stated, if your friend has removed XP Pro from his computer and it is a retail version you will be ok. If your friend is still using this version on his computer then no, it is not legal. If this version is OEM and it is installed on 2 different computers then again, no this is not legal.
When you try to activate an OEM version and it is installed on anothr computer this sends a red flag to Microsoft and then BOTH computers are compromised and your friends computer will show signs that his O.S is pirated along with yours.

umm, interesting.

I have yet another problem. I was curious so I formatted and It required a volume license key and I don't have any so I can't continue with the installation. I called my friend and he said his gonna go get 1 from the Internet. I'm still waiting for him to call.
