I reformatted a friends computer for her. She has an eMachines W5233, it comes with Vista preinstalled. She didn't want that so I put Windows XP on her computer and I installed all the hardware . . . or so I thought! She is trying to install Neverwinter Nights 2 and it says that it cannot detect a Direct3D device.
This is most likely related to the video drivers. If you have a network connection, go to the eMachines Website and search for the driver downloads for your model, and install them. Also go to Windows update. If you cannot get on the net with the computer at the moment, you will have to download the drivers to a CD most likely- I would say USB drive, but if the chipset drivers are not installed, it may not see the USB drive.
She has the Intel(R) 82945G Express Chipset Family integrated card. I found the drivers on the official Intel website and she installed them, rebooted and there's still no change.
Those are clearly the correct drivers so I don't know if she's doing something wrong or . . . I don't know? Everything is working except her video card.
I hate integrated video. :'(
