I am sorry if this has been answered before, but I have been searching the internet for a fix for hours. I am willing to offer any and all assistance required to help fix this problem!
My dad has recently passed his laptop to me in a fit of frustration and asked me to fix it. He complained of many viruses and spyware from his step daughters, and started formatting the computer in a fit.
The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite A 105 and I am trying to install Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 from an OEM disk. I have followed the instructions for installing Windows XP when booting from a disk, up until the quick format in NTFS format. I get the following error message:
Setup is unable to format the partition the disk may be damaged.
It goes on to say something about a SCSI drive, but I don't think the laptop has one.
How do I get this to format and install? Help!
