Error message "another program is currently using this file"

Hello all & Happy New Year
I would like to eliminate this annoying error message "another program is currently using this file" that pops up when I try to open some programs. One of which is Act 2000 a database program, this particular program also doesn't shut down properly. I also get this error message occaisionally when I open these programs - Calyx Point & Mozilla Firefox, however with these it is not every time as with Act.

I've used ACT and have experienced it's bugginess first hand. Can't really help you with your problem, but did want to let you know you are not alone and also ACT doesn't give much (free) Tech Support. However, they do have some FAQ's on their web-site, so it might be worthwhile to try there.

When you next get the error message, open Task Manager and check the processes, it sometimes occurs when you accidently run a program twice, or a program still has background components running after it has shutdown.

Also, scan your temp files to see if theres anything related in there.
