Just bought a 22" LCD monitor and plugged it in with the DVI cord. OS is XP Home and used a VGA previously. I am using a brand new video card, HIS 9250 256MB (128bit) 360MHz PCI which says it supports 2048x1536 res but I cannot get the monitoer to display 1680x1050 using the DVI. My roommate, who has worked as a tech before, updated the drivers and there was no change.
Does XP Home support 1680x1050 DVI or is there another problem my roommate has thought of?
It is not the operating system that supports the resolution it is a combination of the video card and the monitor. What you have to do is have a video card that will support the right resolution and the monitor thet will use it.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a video card that will work for a Dell Dimension 2400 running Windows XP Home and supports 1680x1050 DVI within a reasonable price range? I am not a gamer and only use my computer for the internet, school work, music, and a few family pictures.
if you upgrade the video card you may need to upgrade the psu as well
i think this comes with onboard graphics chip and no agp expansion slot only 3 pci slots
which would mean a pci video card
