disable firewall?

I have a new Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop. I got Verizon high speed modem and determined that I can get online in safe mode but not normal mode. Verizon suggested I disable my firewalls. I don't have McAfee nor Norton installed.

I want to be able to get online in normal mode.

what other firewall or virus programs do you have?

none as far as I can tell...I checked under programs and there were no other firewall or virus programs listed.

click >START<
Go to control panel
click security or windows firewall...
you can then disable windows firewall, but if thats not the issue, i suggest setting it back...

You sure do not want to access the Internet without a firewall. Ws own should be active, if it has not been replaced by another you downloaded.

You can also go to "Security Center," and it will indicate what is running. Click the small down arrows to the right of "on."
