Dialog Open Box Reverses the Alphabetical and "By File" Order (RESOLVED)

For some reason, only when I'm using the open dialog box for a program such as winamp, word, etc. (not when browsing in Explorer), I end up starting from the end of the list working up to the file folders instead of the other way around, as I've organized it to be.

Does anyone know of an option change that may have caused this, and how to change it back? Thanks in advance for your support.

Method 1: If the Open Box Is Displayed in List, Properties, or Preview View

1. On the File menu, click Open.
2. In the Open dialog box, click the arrow next to the Views icon, point to Arrange Icons, and then click either by Name, by Type, by Size, or by Date.

If the files are arranged by name in ascending order, click by Name and the view will change to descending order. Do the same to change from ascending to descending for type, size, and date.

Method 2: If the Open Box Is Displayed in Details View
1. On the File menu, click Open.
2. Click the Name, Size, Type, or Modified button (near the top of the Open dialog box) to change the way the files are sorted.

If the files are arranged by name in ascending order, click Name and the view will change to descending order. Do the same to change from ascending to descending for type, size, and date modified.

My solution works pretty much the same way as described above for Windows Explorer, except you have to do it within the "Open..." or "Save as..." dialog box :
1. open any application affected by this problem,
2. open an "Open..." or "Save as..." dialog box,
3. right click and sort by name (or any prefered sorting),
4. THEN hold down the CTRL key and close the dialog box by clicking the Close cross in the upper-right corner of the box,
5. Release the CTRL key when the box is closed.

And that's it ! Sorting should be restored !

Thanks- it worked. Never heard of ctrl+click-on-the-X before, but it worked.
