Hi, all!
OK....I have NEVER seen this before...EVER! Went to "fix" my 90-year-old father's computer...said there "is something wrong with it." I get there, sit down at the computer, expecting the normal malware or some such and.... THERE IS NO DESKTOP...LITERALLY! So, what DOES show is the task bar, Start button and (TG) the systray is visible and functioning.
I can drag and drop to this blank gray screen but you can't see what I've dropped. There is no Recycle Bin, none of his shortcuts...nothing!
The only way I can think to describe it is, it's like there is a curtain over the "real" desktop. I have been literally everywhere...display, props, control panel, restarted...I know enough to be dangerous but I also know enough to know that I CAN be dangerous, so I was a little apprehensive to dig further.
Has anyone ever heard of anything like this before? (Prior, preferably, to me pulling my hair out by the roots....)
Thanks so much, in advance,
capegirl
