Alright, my friends laptop is a Dell Inspiron about 3 years old and she said she received a blue screen with error codes, it then restarted and started to load and then it froze during the process.

after that they couldnt get it to turn on, the laptop itself would turn BUT the screen wouldnt.

after a couple hours they managed to turn it on, but it froze again

also the laptop has had issues with the battery/charger

it wont function unless the charger adapter it plugged into an outlet.

if not the screen will go into a dark haze then it would shut off.

maybe this has to deal with it or not, im not sure...

so i tried to put in my windows operating cd, to repair it, but the screen is still black when i insert it. i can here it loaded but i see nothing...

much appreciated

After you hooked up the extra monitor did you hit the correct button to switch between monitors on the laptop?

I checked the Dell Latitude I'm working on now and you'd need to hit function + f8 to get the second monitor to work. It might be different on your laptop though...

Oh I thought the screen problem is SOLVED already?

Anyway, I removed the SOLVED mark on this thread again.

If you are installing XP and it seems to just hang, run some checks on your RAM and HDD. Check also your CD drive and the CD being used. Clean the lens of the CD drive (use an optical drive cleaner or can of compressed air). If the CD is dirty or the full of scratches or is just a copy (not genuine/original XP install CD) then that could explain the problems.

Hi I seen you are saying the cd wont boot? or is it that it wont open when you click

on the menu, install xp?

Have you tried loading windows from the time you turn on the laptop?

What i would suggest is to boot off of the cd from the time you turn on the laptop.
