Just to add, I mainly use my computer for home browsing and some peer to peer sharing.

 

All ports are closed by default.. There are over a 20,000 ports (i think). Only application that have been granted by windows firewall can open ports..
And for future reference support on p2p on this forum is forbidden.

 

go to blackviper.com and learn how to disable unneeded services. The services running in xp is what is keep those ports open or listening. I've got my computer to where no ports are open or listening so there are many services that can be safely disabled. your comp will be much less prone to attack when you turn off services that you don't need.
