Cant Empty recycle bin....

Whenever I delete anything it never shows up inside the recyling bin but when I right-click and choose to empty it asks "Are you sure you want to delete these 45 items?" If I click yes, I hear the crumbling paper but the icon shows that there is still something inside even though there isn't. I can empty the recycling bin a thousand times it will still ask me the same question. Does anyone know what's going on? Please help.Thanx

Try right-clicking on the Recycle Bin and choose Properties, once the Properties dialog box is opened check to see if the box Do not move files to Recycle Bin is not checked and that Display delete confirmation dialog box is checked. I usually also have my maximum size for the Recycle Bin set at 5%, this way I don't use much disk space.
