I will try to explain this as best as I can. I downloaded what I thought was PC Pitstop Optimize. I scanned with Bullguard and it showed no viruses. After installing all, my desktop changed and showed 'Antivirus 2008' files and started running something on my pc - Also, when selecting 'Start' in bottom left hand corner of screen, the right hand side of my options vanished, and could not open My Computer, Control Panel, Help and Support etc as they were not there. Were also not available on the desktop. Called a friend who said to download and run Smitfraudfix. Did this and it bought my pc back to being useable (just)
Bullguard scanned and fixed to infections, did a shot down and start up again of pc now I have the problem of being unable to activate Automatic Windows Update - have tried going to the site of Microsoft Updates and still will not work.
Also, everytime I go onto the internet via Mozilla or Explorer, I get lots of pop ups advertising antivirus (some starting an autoscan) and also the browser is redirecting to other sites and changing my home page to various others.
Any help and assistance would be appreciated.
I am not that pc literate, but can get by, so you may need to explain in a little more detail! Sorry!!
