Where is the AUTOEXEC.BAT file located?

Should be at the root of your C drive...though you will have to have hidden files and protected operating system files viewable in order to see it.

It's not really used in the XP environment...why do you need to use it if you don't mind me asking?

Are you saying that there isn't a batch file AUTOEXEC.BAT on XP OS, because It 's not in my C folder(With hidden files showing).

I needed it to edit it to use it for some of my batch files that I'm practicing with.

No, i'm not saying that as it will be there....you just have to have 'Hide protected operating system files (recommended)' unchecked as well as be able to view hidden files.

As for using it...you can use your batch files without it. If you have XP Pro, you can use gpedit.msc to run your scripts at startup/shutdown and logon/logoff and if you use XP Home, you can use your startup folder to initiate the scripts.
