Just reinstalled windows xp. Reinstalled all my drivers, but I'm not sure what this "audio device on high definition audio bus" driver is; that device driver has put that yellow question mark next to. I've looked and looked on Google, it seems some people have fixed with video card drivers, others, motherboard drivers. I'm using a fatality pro soundblaster card.
I've tried to download the audio drivers for the maximus formula, but I believe this goes to the sound card that comes with the mobo, which I am not using. When I try to install, it says that it doesn't match my hardware, and aborts.
I have also disabled on-board sound or the equivalent thereof for this board, in BIOS.
Are you getting sound through the sound card? Did you install the drivers to the sound card? Try to enable on-board and see if you get sound from the card? After you enable on-board, install drivers for it, then go back and disable it so it might shut up.
Sorry, yes, I've installed my drivers for the soundblaster card. I have sound. My problem is that I don't know what drivers to install. The link to the Audio drivers for my board on the ASUS site link to what I believe is drivers for the sound card that comes with the system. Pretty sure that this is my onboard sound:
It seems like that yellow question mark is next to your onboard sound (the one integrated on the motherboard). Since you've got a soundblaster, you can ignore the question mark.
Since the onboard drivers won't install with my current hardware, do I install the card the mobo came with, and then install onboard drivers? Then remove mobo card, and put SB card in, and reinstall SB drivers?
I managed to get the hardware installation wizard to stop popping up, by disabling the driver in device manager. Still has a question mark next to it, I will try reinstalling the SB drivers.]
