Re: Active Desktop recovery mode
1. Try deleting the file C:/Documents and Settings/Compaq_Owner/Application Data/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/Desktop.htt
- Goto "Start" -> "Run" - > Type in "%appdata%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer"
(including the quotation marks at the begin and end) -> Enter
- A windows explorer screen should open
- Then click on "Desktop.htt" and press delete -> press "yes" to delete
- Close Windows Explorer Screen
- Then refresh your desktop (Press F5 or Right click Desktop and click on "Refresh")
OR
2. Disable Active Desktop
- Goto "Start" -> "Run" - > Type in "desk.cpl" -> Enter
- Click the "Desktop" tab at the top
- Click the "Customize Desktop" button at the bottom
- Click the "Web" tab at the top
- Deselect any webpages that are selected in the box
- Click "Ok" -> "Ok"
