Active Desktop Icon removal

Hello people, new here (great forum!), and I know my way around computers. EXCEPT for a stupid Active Desktop Icon I added, when I wanted just a desktop shortcut. I CANNOT figure out where to remove it,, and have looked everywhere. I did this once before, and found out how to remove it, but lost in space this time. Any help is greatly appreciated in advance...Robby

Hi Rob welcome to TSF

Try this:
Right-click the Active Desktop to display the shortcut menu, and then click Properties.

Click the Web tab.

To disable an item, clear the check box next to the item. It will still be there if you want to use it again.

To delete an item, select the item, and click Delete. This will permanently remove the item from your system.

Click OK.

I can't get anything out of it. Its a GMAIL icon, on the desktop background (behind the program icons), and right clicking on it gets the same screen as an empty spot on the desktop. It can't be moved, clicking does zip. Nowhere in "Settings" or "Display" can I find anything about it. Its not a problem just a darn nuisance.

"Right-click the Active Desktop to display the shortcut menu"...
this is not possible...nothing happens.
Grrrr...

Actually thats why I learned do much about puter systems...just poking around, getting deeper and deeper. seeing more and more, then usually just enough to get in trouble, than at least finding forums to have someone toss the life jacket! Thanks for your response and time. Robby
